We have makers for every budget.

We get it - money doesn't grow on trees. That's why ABACUS is free to use and we have makers for every budget. See how ABACUS can help you pursue your passion while also helping out your wallet.

Here's how it works. Each maker assigns their "per hour or session fee" based on the suggested ABACUS cost structure. As a new maker, we suggest that your start at, or around, the minimum suggested price per category. As your experience, number of sessions, overall rating, and amount earned on ABACUS increases, we then suggest raising your fee to reflect your abilities and reputation. Earn more, receive more!

The categories have been set to account for time on equipment, consummables usage, and hazard types.

“We want to bring quality information to customers while providing fair compensation to Makers. We've built our marketplace with all budgets in mind.”

Steve Cherewaty, Founder

We encourage Makers to build their own curriculum with handouts and cheat sheets, throwing in their own personal touches to help customers learn and have fun.

We also offer best practices when posting a project, learning session, or equipment share. See our pricing guideline below for more details and tutorials on the marketplace, as well as in HOW IT WORKS.

We've made ABACUS as simple as possible to use and that includes transactions. There's no need to worry about money exchange when you're working with each other - we'll handle the details.

Once an appointment is made between maker and customer, the funds are held through our secure payment system (Stripe or PayPal depending on which you haven chosen to use) until services/session is rendered and confirmed. Payment is then sent to the maker. Since the ABACUS marketplace is mobile friendly, payment sign off and reviews are easy and quick to do from your mobile phone at the end of your session.

Transaction details are easy to track and manage from your user profile. While ABACUS is free to use, we do charge a booking fee.
